Hi,
I implemented the General Use ctrl_fanspeed.sh solution mentioned in the wiki. The fan certainly spins down when the temperature is in the correct range however the HDD never goes into sleep mode.
Before the crtl_fanspeed was installed the HDD would go to sleep after 5mins of inactivity (each and every time).
To get the HDD to spin down properly I need to remove crtl_fanspeed.sh from the volume and remove the reference to it in the fun_flug which means I'm back to square one.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
kip

Hi kipster,
have a look at my comment in the thread "Fan does run all the time". I assume it has to do something with RAID1.

I don't run a raid in my CH3SNAS (two individual disks instead) but still I have the same problem with that script

Me to, the provided kill script doesn't work either, there is one in the original thread that does get the job done however.
It has to do with the fanscript running off the hard disk, the loading to memory in the beginning of the script simply doesn't work.

I run RAID 1 and the fan control script off the hard drive and have no disk spin up issues whatsoever. It is on FW 1.05 but I do not recall any problems even with the previous FW v1.04. ffp 0.5

For the moment i just kill the fancontrol via fun_plug and get the fan running at 2000 RPM constantly, it's not ideal, but * for me * it's better than the firmware fancontrol and the hack that doesn't work.
2000 RPM seems to be enough for me even for intensive use, it's a very primitive but working solution...
