I'm running into performance problems when transferring files to/from the DNS-323. That's annoying, as I planned it to replace my old G4 that's running as a fileserver now in a Gigabit network. When copying a folder with around 2450 files (total 250 Mb) as a test, transferring to OSX server takes 1 min. 35 sec.; to DNS-323 it takes 3 min. 35 sec.
Has it something to do with the SMB/CIFS protocol? Would installing Netatalk on the DNS-323 make any difference, and if so, how should I do that?
All questions… any answers? ;-)
