Just to help others. I finally figure out why my 323 doesn't stay idle for very long.
Original problem:
323 will spin down the HD, and the blue light will dim, and it become very quite after 5-10 mins of idle time (no access at all). But within 1 min after 323 go idle, the blue light will light up again, and I hear disk spinning (not very loud like active, but it does produce heat). This problem is bugging me all the time, because the box got very warm, and burning power for nothing.
Solution:
I'm using vista, in the "network and sharing center", by default it's set to "public network". You have to change to "private network" to fix this problem. Once it's set to "private network", my 323 will go sleep most of the time unless I wake her up.
Reason:
I think the problem has to do with public network will ping the device on network, that causes the 323 wake up all the time. This is just my guess, if others know the technical different between public vs. private network, please post.
