Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Just Upgraded to 1.05. Works like a charm. No data loss and fonz fun_plug incl. mediatomb and firefly runs fine.
Upgraded from what FW to 1.05 ? (IE: 1.03 ?, 1.04 ?). Also, what RAID level were you running ?
Thanks for sharing !!!!

I just upgraded from 1.04 --> 1.05. RAID1, funplug 0.5, lighttpd, transmission are all running fine afterwards. I will obviously not be using the BT function instead of Transmission so I didn't try that.

Can someone take a look to see if the built in software gets version bumps?
Some version numbers from 1.04:
/etc/samba # ls -l /lib/libuClibc-* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 312136 Dec 27 2005 /lib/libuClibc-0.9.28.so /etc/samba # /sys/crfs/upnp/upnp --version UPnP AV / MediaServer v1.02.0317.2006. /etc/samba # /usr/bin/smbd --version Version 3.0.24 /etc/samba # /bin/smbclient --version Version 3.0.24 /etc/samba # uname -a Linux nas1 2.6.12.6-arm1 #29 Thu Dec 27 09:59:48 CST 2007 armv5tejl unknown /etc/samba # /bin/sh BusyBox v1.00-pre1 (2007.12.10-08:03+0000) Built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. [NB type 5784468 then quit to get out of the built in shell]

Is there an easy way to remove everything that has been installed on the NAS like funplug... As far as Ive understood when I upgrade to 1.05 everything else remains on the NAS. BTW, I am a Linux-newbie...
thanks

Thanks bq041. Shame there are no changes to the built in UPNP, it's never worked very well for me, but I guess the mediatomb or twonky options cover that. Lack of changes to libuClibc is probably good news for precompiled binaries from optware etc :-)
SuperMesna - If you have put a fun_plug script on your DNS-323 hard drive then you can remove it by deleting it. Use whatever application you normally use for writing/deleting files from your computer.

No problem. My next test is to see how to uninstall the bit-torrent client. It has a few side effects I don't like.
Check out this thread, it has all the info I am working out on 1.05: http://dns323.kood.org/forum/t2192-1.05b28-Quirks.html

im loving the web file server
N00b question, is there a web file server option in the new firmware (1.05) or am I interrupting this wrong. I didn't read anything about it in the release notes.
(I'm away from my DNS-323 to play with the new firmware. i.e. work).

I have not fount one, yet. Keep in mind, this thread was written for a previous beta version.

i am sure that 05/09/2008 release date is the date that D-link SG release the firmware on their webpage and not the date of when the firmware was released (in this case 05/05)
Maybe but it makes no sense for me that they don´t use the correct firmware date. This confused the customers. Also a lot of D-Link country supports don´t write the correct build version on their sites. As far as I know there are 5 different build versions.
Even D-Link USA is not using the 05/05/2008 date and used 13th May on their support web
which further confirms my speculation that the date listed in those support pages is the date the firmware they make available to their region

I found it. For those looking for the web file server, you manually have to type in the address:
http://<ip-address-of-DNS>/web/wfs_login.asp
Login with a user and password that has share permissions.

First some screenshots:
Web file server is a good idea but D-link implementation sucks. Five differents tabs ?! One for download, one for delete, etc. ... For example, if you want to rename a file, you'll have to switch the tab and browse file tree once again to find that file. This is stupid. Have a look at QNAP implementation (from QNAP TS-109-PRO NAS) :
All options available in one window! This is how it should be done!
The second problem is that script for directory listing (similar one is used in configuration pages... unfortunately ). It is slow and buggy. It has serious problems if you have a large number of files/subdirectories (you have to be veeeeery patient before you see directory contents). File tree frame encoding is bad, too:
http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=big5"

Keep in mind, this is not implemented from D-Link. It is on the DNS, but there are no links to it from anywhere and, technically speaking, we (the user) are not even supposed to know it is there. Obviously it has problems, or D-Link would have implemented it.

if i remember correctly, downloaded phpfm did not work correctly from start on my nas. it kept breaking coz it the file modifies itself to save settings but it modified the file the wrong way i had to edit few lines in the code first to make it work.
anyhow, its only one php file so here it is, working version of phpfilemanager for dns-323: (attachment )
you should have lighttpd and php-cgi installed and put it somewhere in your www/pages directory..
i've edited the md5 password in the file, it's: notmypassword (you can change it later in configuration)
enjoy!

is need "easy_search(4.2.0.0)" to USE setup BIT Torrent?
I get the same error. Tried re-formatting the drives and re-installing the firmware. Tried everything. Theres a folder on the drive that says Nas_prog/BT with the files bt and btdog in it.
Any suggestions?
It's the same problem with Belkin NVision and D-Link 655 and 635.
