I am thinking of changing the default 40mm x 10mm fan to a thicker 40mm x 20mm size. I wonder anyone has done this.
Not sure whether the casing can support this thicker fan? Cause my unit is a little too hot. Reach up to 51c when lots of activity. The whole unit is hot to touch even on the outside.
I would have dismantle out the thing and measure it myself. But if someone has done it or tried doing, would have saved me a lot of trouble.

A 40x40x20mm fan will not fit inside the casing. The fan is tightly sandwiched between an inner metal plate and the plastic back
However, it is not difficult to mount it on the outside (but you should keep something acting as a duct to the inside metal plate, though).
You can find some inspiration here.

It will look better. It's 40mm to 60mm. You can then mount a 60mm fan.

Very nice. I looked for one of those, but could not find any back then.
Note that there might be a clearing issue when using the drive eject arms with the adapter pictured. But if ejecting the drives is not a frequent task, the back can just be removed when needed.
