I've had my DNS-323 for about a year, running 1.03 for the longest time. Currently running RAID1 with two 500GB Samsung HD501LJ drives. Recently I copied everything from my DNS-323 to a backup drive, then upgraded to 1.05. Between D-Links warning about reformatting after firmware updates, and to enable unicode support, I reformatted both drives and copied everything back.
Unfortunately it wasn't until AFTER I did this that I realized when I initially copied everything from my DNS-323 to the backup drive, files were apparently not copied correctly. File sizes reported correctly, but my mp3 albums I ripped, then created SFV files for, no longer verify correctly. ZIP and RAR files report CRC errors.
Now my major problem is that it doesn't appear this was a one time transfer issue - every archived file (zip or rar) I copy from my main drive to my DNS-323 now reports CRC errors. The file sizes match the source file, but testing the archive results in errors. Of course, testing the archive of the original source file does not report any errors.
I've searched through the forum and can't find similar complaints. Does anyone else have these kinds of issues?? Unfortunately I don't really have a setup that will allow me to remove the drives and run chkdsk on them, but so far I haven't experienced any of the issues I normally do with a dying drive (files being inaccessible, refusing to delete\move, unusual freezing, etc).
Suggestions? Ideas?
