enyrypted partition - possible with chroot installed Debian?

Hi,

Yesterday I bought myself an dns 323 and equipped it with a 1TB disk so far, and started playing around.
So far I have my chrooted Debian up and running, so far so good.

But what I wan`t to do, is have one encrypted partition which is decrypted when the device starts up, the key should be stored on the USB Drive.
Than, the files should be accessible through smb and nfs.

And know I`m at the point of confusion.

I guess what I wan`t isn`t possible out of the chrooted install, because the smb stuff is managed through the FW directly.

I`d even try the "direct" installation of Debian, but as far as I read in the WIKI it seems quite hard to bild up a serial connector.
I`m experienced with J Tag stuff, but so far all i had to do, is hook up four pins, maybe a resistor and thats it.

But here it seems I need a spezial board to get it working. is that right, or did I just not understand the Wiki article.

Maybe someone who allready did this serial stuff can take me by hand and guide me through the process of building this connector.

One more question, is it possible to format the HDD on the pc, to get some partitions, or will it then not be recognized by the device? Does the device allow creating partitions on the HDD?

OK, so thanks in advance :-)

Chris
