I hate to post this as a new topic (since a similar topic was posted earlier), but it seems my problem is just a bit different, and I hated to be at the bottom of the list of a seemingly dead thread.
Okay... I'm having SERIOUS data issues with Vista Premium and the DNS323. I have a folder full of jpgs that I use for graphics art, and when I open the folder and choose any thumbnail view, it shows roughly 5-7 images in thumbnail view, and then totally locks my computer down. Totally. I have to shut down the system by holding in the power button--nothing else works. I open the same folder from any of my XP machines and it behaves almost as fast as if the files were on the native drives. Thumnails pop up instantaneously, browsing the photos (and some are HUGE) is ultra-quick, etc. Even if I don't choose a thumbnail view and instead open one of the pics in Vista's native browser, going from one pic to the next takes 5 to 10 seconds--even tiny little 50kb pics. What gives? Any ideas or suggestions? Does Vista Premium have some odd way of accessing files that can be changed to some other setting?

Bingo!!!! I thought I had thoroughly combed the forums but missed a post about anti-virus scanning. I'm using ESET, and went into the "real-time scan" settings and disabled netowrk drive scanning. Now the computer is fast as lightning. I just wanted to post this in case anyone else runs into the problem.
