Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.
You are not logged in.
Anybody give a newbie a hand?
Lots of linux experience but I can't connect to my DNS323 box via telnet to start any of the mods???
I've tried telnet from within XP and just get "Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed" and I've tried Putty but from what I understand Putty wont work until I can telnet in and setup ssh?
Any help much appreciated...
Rick

Do you have fun_plug (ffp) installed? There is no telnet service running if you haven't.

Sorry, I thought a telnet server was built in....
But I did download and unzip/tar the fun plug and copy the 2 files to the root of volume 1 and reboot the machine. SHould that give me telnet and or ssh access?

yes it should automatically fire up the telnetd service, not the ssh one. I assume you are getting the files onto the drive by cpying them through a mapped windows drive. If so, I think you can check if funplug has installed correctly after a reboot by checking if one of the two files disappears. If you can still see both files then they arent being installed.

if you used winzip to unzip funplug-0.4.tar.gz (or 0.3), try again with a different program - winzip corrupts the file (and no telnet server will start).
Yes I did use Winzip! What should I use instead?

Both files are still there so I think Fonz is right, winzip corrupted them.
Although I did get a message from the box after the reboot about re-formattting but I couldn't see it all as it was partly obscured by a logo about a web server...

FOund some more info on another site that said to use WINRAR which I have done. Copied and rebooted. Now I can Telnet in.
