Adding and configuring users

Hey all,

I've had lots of fun setting up and add to the ffp 0.5 software to the DNS323.  No issues.  I plan on implementing this type of scenario to automate backups.

http://troy.jdmz.net/rsync/index.html

I have been able to get it to work, however I discovered that the user I have created to run the backup is setup to a home directory of /usr/share/ftp_server.    I need it to be setup elsewhere where the directory permissions I set will stick.

I want to be able to edit /etc/passwd and have the changes stick.  How do I do this?   It appears everything outside /ffp is readonly, which makes sense but I need to be able to make changes.

Re: Adding and configuring users

with ffp 0.50 (I can't say about prior versions) there is a utility (in /ffp/sbin, I think) called store-password.sh (again, going from memory as I'm currently rebuilding my DNS-323) which writes passwd, shadow, group, even something related to the Samba password(s) to the NVRAM.
