Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hi
So I got myself a DNS-323 with 2x500Gb disks. I've upgraded the FW to 1.05 and the disks are RAID 1.
I've followed the instructions on how to install fun_plug at http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun-plug/0.5/
I've copied the 2 files to Volume_1 on my DNS-323. Reboot. Nada.. both files are still there and I can not telnet in.
Then I use WINRAR and unpack all files from fun_plug.tgz to Volume_1\ffp. Reboot. Still not work.
Log file:
**** fun_plug script for DNS-323 (2008-04-13 tp@fonz.de) ****
ln -snf /mnt/HD_a2/ffp /ffp
* Running /ffp/etc/rc ...
/ffp/etc/rc: rcorder: Input/output error
* OK
Last try I used Windows Commander to extract the fun_plag.tar from fun_plag.tgz and copied it over to Volume_1.
Reboot. Nada. Both files are still there and telnet is not working.
Log file says:
**** fun_plug script for DNS-323 (2008-04-13 tp@fonz.de) ****
ln -snf /mnt/HD_a2/ffp /ffp
/ffp/etc/rc: Not found or not executable
I've checked so that all files have permissions 777.
So now I'm out of ideas and need help. I thought this would be "easy".
Thanx.

Hi,
It should be easy.... At least it was in my case... I simply followed Fonz's instructions
Copy fun_plug and fun_plug.tgz to Volume 1 and reboot. If
successful, the fun_plug.tgz file is unpacked (ffp directory) and
deleted. A telnet server is started.
Are you sure that the files (no windows cr/lf added due to editing and saving with notepad), file names (no capitals) and file locations are correct?
Otherwise I would suggest to download the two files again, probably one of the files is corrupt.

Hi
Thank you for your answer. It should be easy but I guess not for me ![]()
i have not modified the files in any way and I have tried to download them again. Used both XP and MAC.
All the times I have placed the files into \\MYDNS323_IP\Volume_1
Tried both with Explorer in XP, Finder in OSX and FTP in both OS..
Still got the same problems. This drives me crazy... I'm wondering if the RAID 1 setup has something to do with it?
I dont know..

After several attempts I reformat the drives and started all over. Used the same files as I downloaded before
and now it worked... Crazy stuff...
This thread can be closed. Problem solved.
