Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

Hi ALL

After upgrading on the South East Malaysia D-Link website, with the latest v1.05 (NAS202B_DLINKEu_DNS323.1.05b28(1.47.0505.2008) with the latest Easy Search function, said successful and restart. However, each time I access the BiTorrent function in the web menu, I'm getting error message that it was not install. I've tried the process for more than 5 times already and would like to ask for your help.

How do I go about installing it by myself on the firmware?
Appreciate your kindness.

Thank you.

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

How are your drives set-up?  If you have a place that I can send or upload the file to, I have tarred the bit-torrent program files.

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

Hi Euthenics

Switch off your dns-323, eject volume 2 of your hdd, boot up ur dns-323 with only your volume 1, install the BT using easy search again and try. Confirm BT is working in the web menu, then switch off and insert back ur 2nd HDD and start dns-323 again.

This should work

Just out of curiosity Rich - have you considered what that will do to the data - if he is running anything than standard disks?

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

Thanks 'richneo' for the advise. You must have known about this bug.
It seems that users who run as both IDE will face this problem. Not sure about those running RAID.
Noted that if both drives was running, the BT application was installed, both hard drive will contain the BT program.
While removing one of the drive solve the problem but if the second drive still contain the BT program, it will cause conflict.
One had to remove it or in some case, reformat it.

Anyway, the process was messy along the way. In the end, I got somewhat strange results in the end.

- Previously, I can't delete or create any file in the BT folder with access denied. Now, I can without any modification done using funplug.
- Those custom settings I had set in the BiTorrent, upon restart those settings is reset automatically back to default.
- My ISP throttle torrent downloads but with newer version of BitComet, I was able to download much faster. The BT in DNS-323 is really
slow & I'm wondering if one is able to do something about it.
- A number of times, upon restart when I try to start the BT files that I had download half way, it says start but nothing actually move at
  all.
- when it's able to download, it cannot seed at all.

Maybe the firmware had perhaps corrupted already. But I had tried to flash it a number of times already but with the same result. If downgrade the firmware, some settings contain problem as I noted. Not sure how to go about it anymore with the problem of custom settings being reset back to default after restart, no seeding done and BT sometimes able to download and sometimes don't.
Any clue?

Thanks again for the assistance provided.

Yes, I would like to have the program. Is there any way I can download it like using file sharing program in the web?

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

You give me a place to upload it, and I will.  Or drop me a line to my email and I'll send it to you.

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

Dunno what I am doing wrong but I have tried the suggestions of removing one HDD and when I run the search utility and click on the BT button, it seems to install something and restart the 323.

But when I logged in the 323 via web and go into the download page, I keep getting a message that the BT program is not installed when I click on the BT tab. I look into my HDD and see a NAS_Prog folder. Inside I see a BT folder but with nothing inside. I dunno if something has been installed or if there is an error. I have tried running the seach utility several times but still not installed and blank folder.

Short of reformatting my HDD (Which I dun want to to do), any work arounds? Worst case, if you guys think the BT is junk and not worth the effort, then forget it, I will just sell the NAS then...thanks.

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

My opinion of the BT client with F/W 1.05 is that it is junk and has several security issues.  I would reccommend you consider installing transmission on the DNS as your BT client.

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

Like 5h4rk, my Easy Search is unable to find my NAS after I upgraded to FW1.05 and installed BT successfully. I want to change my Language. How can I make Easy Search find my NAS? Is there a way to input the IP address into Easy Search?

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

What Easy Search version are you using? Try downloading the latest version from the D-Link website.

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

I tried with V3 on CD and 4.2.0.0 downloaded from website. Both had the same problem. I am using RAID 1.

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

What IP address does the DNS-323 have?
Is it assigned by DHCP or static?
Is it in the same subnet as the rest of your network?
Are you able to connect to the DNS-323's admin web server?
Are you using any firewall on the PC from which you are running the Easy Search program?

Re: Unable to install BiTorrent using Easy Search function

IP is static and on the same subnet. I have no problem connecting to admin web server. I can also use the Bit torrent. I had no problem using Easy Search before that to install Bit Torrent even with firewall on. Now I cannot do that with or without firewall on.

Update:
I had finally fixed my problem. It was due the the ADSL modem that I had also replaced. I replaced the 4-port ADSL modem with a plain 4 port switch and Easy Search is able to find to the NAS. Everything else worked on the ADSL modem ports except Easy Search. Does that mean Easy Search uses more than just TCPIP protocol?

Thank you for all the help
