Connecting DNS-323 to a single computer

Since switching from Comcast to Verizon FIOS, I've been pretty much unable to use my DNS-323 - it keeps dropping.  I tried just using my old router and plugging the FIOS router into it, but then couldn't get anything.  I want to try a different approach and need advice.  Can I plug my DNS-323 directly into my computer?  Since the whole house runs off the wireless network, I don't use my network jack on my computer at all.  Can I string the DNS-323 off of this?  Must I use a cross-over cable or something?  Any tricks I need to know about?  The main reason I use the DNS-323 is as a music server for my Logitech Slimdevices Duet.  Since the Squeezebox software runs off my computer anyway, this would actually work pretty well if it works at all since there would be a direct hard connection between the application and my music library.  What can all of you out there tell me??? Thanks,
Lloyd

Activate the DHCP Server in the DNS-323 and change the IP range to differ from your existing wireless network, that should be everything, any cable should work, i used a normal tp.

Re: Connecting DNS-323 to a single computer

My computer is saying I have limited or no connectivity to my network port.  It offers to "repair" (i.e. find a new IP address) but cannot.  Thus, I can't see anything off of this connection at all.  Any ideas?

i meant to activate the DHCP Server before connecting it directly...
you need to assign a fixed ip to your network interface, take a look at the manual which ip the dns uses

Re: Connecting DNS-323 to a single computer

You may need to bridge the wireless and wired networks to get them both to work at the same time. I had to do this recently as I access the net via wireless but link to the DNS via a wired switch.
