Noob need help to map drive!

Hi guys,

I just purchased my dns-323, chucked 2 WD 1 tb HDD's in there and it all seems fine. I can map my drives perfectly on my laptops but when it comes to my PC it fails everytime.
I've already checked some threads like http://dns323.kood.org/forum/t1748-Newb … Owner.html but the problem still seems to be there.

When I use the easy search tool and hit connect I get a popup window that asks for a username and password (I didn't see this when I mapped the NAS on the laptops) and no matter what combo I put in it comes up with an error msg "Failed to map drive"

I hope someone here can help as I haven't even heard back from dlink support.

Here are the results of ipconfig

Re: Noob need help to map drive!

Let me guess - the desktop is running Vista and the laptops XP.

If I'm right - search the forum for folks who have had problems mapping drives on Vista and you'll find the answers.

Re: Noob need help to map drive!

I had the same problem, try adding a .bat file with the following in it :

@echo
net use X: /DELETE
net use Y: /DELETE
net use Z: /DELETE

net use X: \\192.168.1.2\Volume_1
net use Y: \\192.168.1.2\Volume_2
net use Z: \\laptop40\XP_laptop1

The last one is my XP laptop drive
