Failing Harddrive? Corrupt Data? Acronis can't load an image

Hey guys,

I primarily use my DNS-323 to hold my images for the computers I deploy. I was trying to image a desktop and it just can't finish. Acronis doesn't give you much by way of possible troubleshooting or advice. It simply says "couldn't read - disk may be bad."

I haven't hacked my DNS-323 in any way. In its stock state, am I able to run any diagnostics on it? I'm not afraid to try modifying it but I don't know a think about linux/unix/etc.

Thanks for any help, guys.

Re: Failing Harddrive? Corrupt Data? Acronis can't load an image

I have had issues when copying Ghost images.  Try moving the image back to a non-network drive and see if it fails the copy.  I found I had a few sectors go bad that a 30 GB image was sitting on and I had to do an indepth scandisk (surface scan) to fix it.  It took over 30 hrs, but it got the data out.
