USB messages flooding log file

I just noticed recently that a lot of USB messages is being written to my /var/log/messages file:

Aug 24 02:59:19 dns-323 user.debug kernel: usb-storage: Bulk command transfer result=0
Aug 24 02:59:19 dns-323 user.debug kernel: usb-storage: usb_stor_bulk_transfer_sglist: xfer 4096 bytes, 1 entries
Aug 24 02:59:19 dns-323 user.debug kernel: usb-storage: Status code 0; transferred 4096/4096

Aug 24 02:59:19 dns-323 user.debug kernel: usb-storage: scsi cmd done, result=0x0
Aug 24 02:59:19 dns-323 user.debug kernel: usb-storage: *** thread sleeping.
Aug 24 02:59:20 dns-323 auth.debug sshd[3707]: debug2: channel 0: rcvd adjust 36293
...

Would somebody give me advice how I can minimize this to at least maybe informational messages? I am running my dns-323 on ffp 0.5 from my USB stick.

Also, I can only seem to have 2 version of messages file, messages and messages.0. How do I increase the number of "version" of this file?

Thanks.

Re: USB messages flooding log file

Sounds like you are running syslogd / klogd. You can control the behaviour of both by parameters. Just edit syslogd_flags="..." in /ffp/start/syslogd.sh. I am using syslogd_flags="-O /ffp/var/log/messages -l 4" to output the log to /ffp/var/log/messages with loglevel above info. For other parameters try google man busybox syslogd or something like that.
