Bug: UPnP server advertising itself even when disabled?

I have Firefly installed on my DNS-323 and it works fine with my Roku Soundbridge.

However, before installing Firefly I tested the built-in UPnP server briefly and apparently built a UPnP database on the DNS in the process.

Now, even though I have both the UPnP and iTunes built-ins disabled, the Soundbridge still "sees" the UPnP server occasionally.  When this happens, if I reboot the Soundbridge the UPnP server goes away, but comes back some time later.

Have you seen this behavior, and/or do you have any fixes/workarounds to stop the UPnP server from apparently advertising itself even when disabled?

Thanks.

Re: Bug: UPnP server advertising itself even when disabled?

Hi,

I think this issue is resolved after fw 1.01 (i.e. 1.02b), but I'm not sure since I'm still on 1.01. On 1.01, the UPnP server is restarted after a while, even when disabled by GUI.

I noticed this when a network neighbour was using my files. I solved my issue by disabling UPnP in my router, but I think it's really bad that UPnP is on even if UPnP is disabled.

So, try to upgrade and see if the problem disappears, if not - issue a trouble ticket to D-Link.

Re: Bug: UPnP server advertising itself even when disabled?

Thanks Apan.  I have already installed 1.02b (although it shows up as 1.02 on the GUI.)  I will file a report with D-Link.

In the meantime, I am wondering: could I Telnet into the DNS and destroy the UPnP database I created, and would that stop the server from starting anymore without causing any collateral damage?  I know you probably didn't try this since you changed your router settings instead.  But I wonder if anyone else has tried clobbering the UPnP database---or any other DNS-based workaround for that matter---and will tell us about their experience.
