I re-ran the tests described below, but this time with a proper inline AC Amperemeter and got these results:
Unit turned off: 1.1 watts Unit turned on, drives spinning idle: 22.2 watts Unit turned on, drive heads seeking: 24.4 watts Unit turned on, drives not spinning: 10.4 watts

May I know what is the brand of this consumer-grade (cheap) watt meters?
I'm living in Malaysia using 230V UK PIN and I been looking for the watt meters and couldn't find it.

The ones I have are Chinese OEM products branded with local names like "Sartano". One of them had the actual maker printed on the back, though: "Cixi Yidong Electronic Co.,LTD".
But that exact model won't be available in all countries. Look instead in DIY or electronic shops for similar products.
This one looks exactly like my "Sartano" but with an Australian plug.
