I just purchased my 2nd DNS-323 and want to transfer some files from one to the other. One way would be to do a drag-and-drop from my PC but that would mean that the data would traverse the LAN two times.
What commands would I have to issue at the shell prompt to initiate the transfer by telnetting directly to one of the devices?
This is my home network so security is not an issue during the transfer.
Thanks.

Sorry I can't help with the commands you need, but, if I could just make a comment - given today's networks, most of which are switched, full duplex - a double pass across the network should not be significantly slower than a single pass.

You can use rsync or scp in the command line.
sue the man pages to see how to use them.

fordem,
Great point about the switched segment nature of the network. And I'm running Gigabit Ethernet at that!
nUll,
I did figure out how to use rsync to do the copying.
The interesting thing is that the hard drive is running hotter in the new enclosure than in the old. the rsync command was typed into the new DNS but that can't be the explanation, can it? All are Samsung F1 750G.
