Problem downloading Debian update packages

Frustrated with lack of DHT in Transmission, I decided to take the plunge and attempt to install rTorrent. This required me to install Debian first. Using the instructions on this page <http://dns323.kood.org/howto:chroot_debian> I managed this halfway before stumbling on the part where I need to telnet the following command:

   apt-get update

Whenever I do so, the ftp download just stays at 0%. My etc/resolv.conf looks like this:

   search wan
   nameserver 192.168.0.1

And my etc/apt/sources.list.d/etch.list (I'm using fw 1.05) looks like this:

deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian etch main contrib non-free
   deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian etch main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp1.ca.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free
   deb http://security.debian.org stable/updates main contrib non-free

I'm stuck. Any experts have any idea what's going on?

That's obviously wrong.

Re: Problem downloading Debian update packages

Excuse the typo. It was meant to be 192.168.0.1. I've corrected my original post.

Re: Problem downloading Debian update packages

Fixed. That ip address was meant to be my router's address.
