Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Just switched a box from XP to Vista64, and the DNS-323 shows up as needing a drive in the device manager. It doesn't seem to like anything that's on the cd. In fact, I can't see it with the config tool form the cd. I can however browse the drive thru the network. And of course Memeo doesn't work in Vista64.
Is there a driver needed in 64? I don't like yellow !'s in device manager. What are people using in place of Memeo who are running Vista64?
Thanks

It should not even be in the device manager. It is a network device; network devices never go in the device manager because they are not part of the machine. You didn't connect it with a USB cable, did you? And, no, you do not need drivers for Vista, unless you are using the UPNP.

I was surprised to see it there myself.
Nope, no usb cable. It's hangin off my router, where it was all along. Just changed this box for XP to Vista64. Didn't change anything on the NAS itself.

D-Link USA has a Vista driver posted at http://support.dlink.com/products/view. … d=DNS-323#
I don't run Vista, but I believe this "driver" just allows a icon (of the DNS-323) to show up
in the device manager. You can access the DNS-323 perfectly fine without the "driver". I
think this driver at the D-Link site is for Vista and not Vista64, so it might not help you.

Yeah, had seen that too. Tried to use it, but vista64 didn't seem to think it was what I needed.
Anyway, the device functions fine, even with the device mangler issue.
Now if only the Memeo Autobackup that came with the DNS would work in Vista64.
Thanks

Have you tried turning off the upnp server? That shoud get rid of the device manager issue.

I'll tall ya, I've turned so much stuff off & on that I've lost track. At any rate, it's gone from the device manager and the upnp is off.
Thanks all for the help.

My best piece of advice for everyone is to turn off everything and only turn on what you actually need.
