DNS-323 V 1.05 Date/Timestamp issues.

This is driving me nuts.  Any ideas how to fix?  See attached jpeg file.  Scenario: I run a backup program on a Windows XP system that has the correct system date/time set.  The DNS-323 also has the same/correct date & time. The backup program creates the backup file on the DNS-323 at 11:28 PM Oct 10.  However, when you view the mapped drive directory on the DNS-323 in Windows XP explorer, the time is off by one hour - in this case it shows Oct 11 at 12:28 AM.  If you log into the DNS-323 with telnet and  do an "ls -la" on the directory, Linux has the correct file creation date/time.   Why is Samba telling the XP system a time thats 1 hour later?  It shows the same wrong date/time no matter what XP system I use to view the mapped drive direcory.

Is this a Samba bug?  Any known ways to fix it?

Re: DNS-323 V 1.05 Date/Timestamp issues.

Here's another simple example.  I used the "File"--->"New" option in Windows explorer to create a new text document on a DNS-323 mapped drive.  The file creation time stamp is 1 hour ahead of the time on the PC (As the attached screenshot shows).  If you log onto the DNS-323 and look at the directory listing, the time is correct (not 1 hour ahead).

This has to be something in the way the Samba server is reporting date/time info back to Windows.  Perhaps the implementation of Samba used in the DNS-323 does not correctly implement daylight savings time or timezones correctly?

Could others who are using the DNS-323 and v 1.05 firmware confirm similar behavior?  Thanks.

I had the same frustrations myself.

All I can say is that use the ntpd included with ffp and your problems should go away.

Re: DNS-323 V 1.05 Date/Timestamp issues.

Thanks so much for the assistance.  Installing ntpd and setting up the TimeZone properly seems to have solved my problem.  Will monitor for a few days to be sure.
