Hi,
I have just got my lucky hands on a DNS 323. I have installed a pair of 250Gb HDD using the RAID 1 configuration.
If I needed to in the future how would I go about upsizing the HDD whilst retaining all the current files on them?
I have tried slotting in a larger drive to see if when the drives resync the RAID capacity is increased. But this just results in the extra space being split onto a seperate drive.
Thanks

You can grow (upsize) existing partitions using standard linux commands- I tried that in a more complex situation last year and it works fine. It is a three step process involving growing the partitions, extending the RAID and finally growing the ext2/3 file system.
I am nearly certain that these operations would not be supported by the existing firmware of the DNS-323 however you should be able to hack it if you attach the drives to a linux computer, perform all three operations and return the array back to the D-link device.
It might be as well easier to create a tarball from the drive content and unpack it to the new disks.

Thanks for that.
I must admit I'm a complete beginner when it comes to Linux, so that option is out for me.
I did think of your last suggestion which I suspect is going to be the easiest way. I thought that the easiest way would be to remove one of the 2 NAS drives and use it as a temporary drive in a seperate SATA enclosure and then use it to hold the original files whilst the new drive were being installed in the NAS.
Same the was no option built into the firmware to grow partitions.
