Hi,
please excuse if this issue was answered before but I couldn't find any helpful information about that, because there's so much stuff in this forum I don't know about by far.
The first problem was that I changed both drives (now I know I shouldn't have done that). After that the web-UI always wanted to format them although all data was accessible and I could resync my RAID1 manually.
Three days and three nights later I finally succeeded in fixing that behaviour by editing countless hd_magic_num, raidtab and raidtab2web files.
But now my "next generation problem" is that the CH3SNAS lost its settings for workgroup and shares by that. Changing them by web-ui doesn't work and loading the configuration file neither. I can only change it's name.
If I use another virgin harddisk it works, but not with the set of drives which contains my current data.
Can anybody help?

I found out that this is a samba issue. After creating an /etc/samba/smb.conf I suddenly can set the workgroup name. But after rebooting the NAS everything's forgotten again. Ok, as far as I know this is the ramdisk, so naturally it won't survive a reboot.
Now I think the smb.conf must be copied from somewhere (on disk?) to /etc/samba/ while booting. But from where? Where is it missing?

It should be coming from Flash.
