File listing, slow with Vista 64bit! Anyone know why? (r/w at max)

I get a nice 24Mb/s read and 14-16Mb/s write speed, but when it comes to listing files it is really slow.
The speed is around 50-100 files per second. When I do the same from my laptop (winxp) (wireless network) the list speed is way way better. But of course the read and write lies between 1-2Mb/s.

Does anyone know what might be affecting the list speed on my Vista machine? Any workaround/fix for it?

Specs:
2x1Tb western disks.
Raid 1.
Firmware 1.05.
Jumboframes at 7Kb (with the same on the computer). (D-link gigabit switch between)

Are you using virus software or windows firewall?  Many of these programs open every file that gets accessed and checks it.  When you do a directory listing, the software sees every file and looks at each one.  Try disabling any of these programs and see if there is an improvement.
