Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I have downloaded a fun plug script and using windows explorer loaded in volume_1
Restarted the dns323.
In windows firewall on my xp laptop, I created an exception for port 23.
downloaded and started up putty on my laptop, put in the ip of the dns-323 and tried to get a telnet session. Will not connect.
I get a Putty fatal error connection refused
the log is as follows

I read on the fun_plug download site that the telnet server would be installed and started.
http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun-plug/0.5/
I checked the volume_1 folder and the funplug.tgz file is gone and replaced with the following ffp.log
**** fun_plug script for DNS-323 (2008-08-11 tp@fonz.de) ****

ln -snf /mnt/HD_a2/ffp /ffp

I want to try and upgrade the music server so I can run a soundbridge home music unit.
Unfortunately I don't have any experience with telnet or anything like this, so some help will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Fonz,
Thanks for the quick reply.
This is the first time I have done any thing like this and worried about damaging my dns323.
I was following the instructions on the site and downloaded the files linked on the page.

Getting started on DNS-323 and CH3SNAS:
Copy fun_plug and fun_plug.tgz to Volume 1 and reboot. If
successful, the fun_plug.tgz file is unpacked (ffp directory) and
deleted. A telnet server is started.

What should I do next?
Thanks,

I reloaded the files under volume_1 via ftp and rebooted. I now have telnet - thanks,
