Hello everyone,
I have a CH3SNAS with funplug 0.3 here. I wanted to use Iperf to meassure the throughput from my nas to my laptop. How can i get the Iperf programm on the CH3SNAS? (it's not in the packages) Or if you know a better tool to do it, please suggest it. I have basic linux knowledge.
Thanks

Nobody has an idea, or alternative for iperf to run on the CH3SNAS or DNS-323?

given both, your nas and your laptop, have iperf installed:
on one device start iperf in server mode and on the other start it in client mode an specify the ip of the server.
you have read the manpage, havn't you?
mean:
man iperf
every program comes with a manpage. (well they should)
if your iperf does not have a manpage, you can use a web search engine to find, for example this link:
http://www.digipedia.pl/man/iperf.1.html

Ah i\m sorry, but i have asked the wrong question. I know how to use Iperf. I don't know how i get it on my CH3SNAS, since there's no package in funplug. How do i compile it or use it somehow on the CH3SNAS. I have funplug 0.3.

ah, ok. I was rather confused.
since there is no iperf package for the recent ffp (0.5) there is no reson to upgrade (other than having a newer release which works better as far as I heard)
I'm afraid, you will have to compile it:
http://dns323.kood.org/howto:crosscompile
there are.. however.. gcc ando so on packages available for the 0.5 ffp.
so, in theory, it should work to compile it directly on the nas. but this will take ages (at least it will feel like that if you ever compiled a kernel on a 16 core opteron ;-) )
I guess I will test this theory one I get my disks back (had chinese seagates, the ones that are likely to fail.. actually one is about to fail soon, it keeps relocating sectors. will get WD-blacks instead)
well in the meantime, maybe you could upgrade to ffp0.5 so if I've found a solution, you could use it without modification
