FTP: how to share more folders from NAS for users

Hi all !

I'm attempting to set up an FTP server for friends and family to access private files such as family photos across the internet.

I have added a few users, and made each user a folder on the NAS, which tested to be all ok.

Now I would like to add a few other folders that are else where on the NAS in to each user folder.  Lets say the Photos folder.

I don't want to make a seperate copy of the Photos folder for each user account.  I would like to have a shortcut to the actual Photos folder inside each user folder.

And importantly I want to make this folder read-only to the FTP users as they can upload photos in to their "own" folder but I dont want any modifications to my NAS folders via FTP.

If that makes sense, whats the best way to do this?  My guess is that something needs to be done via script.  There doesnt seem to be any options on the web configuration page.  Also I have ffp installed.

Thanks for pointers / advise.

Re: FTP: how to share more folders from NAS for users

would it be a case of making symbolic links to the folders?

or maybe mounting the folders in each user folder?

Maybe if I managed to mount the folders, I have concerns such as would it play heavy on the RAM or CPU to have lots of mounted locations?  is there a limit?

I'm hoping i'm on the right track.
