CH3SNAS loses settings after reboot/shutdown

Hello everyone,

I'm having a strange problem with my CH3SNAS (3 weeks old). For a few days now i noticed that when I set the root password in telnet or just the IP adres and network name, after a reboot it is gone. It does remember i have set a password and asks me to login when establishing a telnet connection, but i think that that is a fun plug setting. BTW al my fun plugs doe start up as usual. Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem? I searched everywhere but couldn't find anything. sad

Thanks in advance.

Bad battery perhaps?  There's a CR2032 battery in the DNS-323, I assume there's also one in the CH3SNAS.

If it's only three weeks old, you might want to have it replaced under warranty rather than open it up though.

Re: CH3SNAS loses settings after reboot/shutdown

read:
http://dns323.kood.org/howto:ffp

and have a look at:
store-passwd.sh

background:
the /etc is on a ramdisk and is generated from a flash memory every time the unit boots.
store-passwd.sh copies /etc/passwd to the flash.
if you change things in the web interface, it does this automaticaly.

Re: CH3SNAS loses settings after reboot/shutdown

I used that Howto to setup the root password and I used store-passwd.sh to save it to the flash and it seems to work but after reboot my password is still lost.

Have same issue (albeit with a difference device) where the password/settings are not stored.

http://dns323.kood.org/forum/t3033-DNS- … eboot.html is the thread, its kinda dead though =/
