Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I just purchased a Dlink 323 along with one WD 1tb green hard drive. I decided I wanted to raid the hard drive as Raid 1 and purchased another WD 1b green hard drive. When I install the new hard drive in tomorrow will I lose all my data from my first hard drive? I understand that whenever you install a new hard drive it formats it. Please let me know if i will lose my data after adding a 2nd hard drive.
I am using firmware 1.5
Where can I download 1.6? Is it out yet?

fw 1.06 is not yet available.
Using fw 1.05, when you install the second drive and log into the web admin interface you will be asked to format the second drive - all new drives have to be formatted before they can be used - you will have the option to format as a second separate volume or by checking a box, to create a RAID1 array - this will only work if the second drive is the same size or larger than the original disk.
You should not lose the data on the first disk - however - you should back it up before doing work with the DNS-323, in fact, it is your responsibility to protect against data loss, by backing up your data - RAID is not a form of backup.

Raid 1 is a mirroring of the data on both hard drives right?
What if one hard drive fails in the future? Can I install an identical new hard drive and it will rebuild the mirror image?

Yes - RAID1 is a mirroring of the data on both hard drives
Yes - if one hard drive fails you can replace it with an identical new hard drive and it will rebuild the mirror.
BTW - it does not have to be an identical drive - any drive of the same or larger capacity will work.
And as before - it is your responsibility to protect against data loss by backing up your data - RAID is not a form of backup.

Raid is not a form of back up because the raid can fail and all my data will be lost right?
I've heard about the Fun_plug scripts. Where can I read more about this?
A few more questions :
Do I install it into the root folder of my drive? Such as Z:\fun_plug?
How do I know if the fun_plug is installed correctly?
What are some tweaks / mods can I do with fun plug on my currect firmware 1.5?
How can I access my 323 from the internet not using a FTP software? Is it possible?

Ok I found the instruction on Fun_PLug
http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun-plug/
Where can I find info one different versions? Right now .5 is the latest?

RAID1 protects against disk failures and does not protect against file infection, corruption, or accidental deletion because data is faithfully mirrored on both disks. You need a backup copy of the data to recover from those.

RAID1 protects against disk failures and does NOT protect against operator error or logic problems in the firmware,
which might cause formatting of both drives during the RAID rebuilding process. You need a backup copy of the data
to recover from those.
