Not able to see hard drive?

Hello -

I had the DNS 323 up and running fine on my Windows XP machine for a couple of months. Had move my PC around  a bit so had to unplug the 323 from the machine.

Went to hook everything back up and tried to get into the config page and it wouldn't take the Admin password. I reset the unit by pressing the button on the back.

Now when I boot up I am unable to map the unit to a drive, when I use the Easy Search utility it shows me an IP of the device but in the lower section where it should show your hard drives nothing shows up. Also, when I go into the config page under the status it says in there are no drives installed.

I've turned off Windows Firewall, have rebotted routers, PC , and unit.

Any thoughts?

Re: Not able to see hard drive?

If you login to your nas, what says

STATUS->DEVICE INFO->HARD DRIVE INFO

Do you see your drive there?

Re: Not able to see hard drive?

Power the unit off, remove and reseat the drives one by one and then power it up again.

If this does not resolve the problem try connecting the drives directly to your PC and see if they are recognized - they will be not be readable unless you load the ext2ifs installable file system driver.

Curiosity now - you mention having to move your PC around a bit and unplugging the 323 "from the machine" - this is not the normal manner of usage, is this in fact how they are connected or is there a network switch or router in between the two?

Re: Not able to see hard drive?

Thanks so much for the reply.

I tried removing the drive and reseating it (I only have 1 drive). I also switched the slot that it was in. It's still not recognizing the drive. One thing I failed to mention was that the Hard Drive light on the DNS just keeps blinking and blinking. It never goes to steady state.

Also, yes, I'm connected through a Router
