Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

I'm a newbie to NAS, and to Linux networking. I have added Fun_plug to the DNS 323 and it is backing up -success :-)
Now a few problems...
My Set up...
DSL router connected to 5 way Ethernet switch
DNS 323 connected to switch
1 X XP PC connected to switch
1 X XP Laptop connected to Router by wireless
1 X PCLinux PC connected to the switch
I stumbled through the Dlink Admin panel and created the following...
1 Group with two users
Access for ALL the group to Vol 1 and 2
In XP PC's all seems OK and I can access both volumes but no password required after I have mapped the drives with the Easy Search Util.
Is that correct and is that secure?
A few Linux problems. I managed by sheer fluke to find the two volumes using SMB4K and can launch a window for each drive and access the files, but there must be an easier way to just have them come up in Konqueror as Drives instead of having to add the path, IP addresss, and workgroup name each time. I tried System - Remote places and can see the Samba Icon but it returns the Error "unable to find any workgroups"
How do I make the DNS and the PC's as secure as possible especially the Linux machine as it is on the Net all day long?
I have yet to find a way to disable FTP access unless it is by simple not turning it on in the Admin panel?
So much is new all of a sudden! I guess a tutorial on setting up Samba properly would be good but any I have found so far don't address all the problems I face.
Any Idiot guide / instructions would be greatly appreciated as my head is buzzing after a struggle with the vi editor and the admin panel :-)
