Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Hey ppl,
Initially i was successful in stalling fun_plug 0.5, then disabled telnet to allow ssh login only.
My problem started after i dismounted /dev/sda2 with the '-l' option (yes... it was stupid) and did an fsck on a volume_1 hdd. At the end of fsck, it prompted that there was an error in the number of segments count (off by 1) and asked if i would like to correct it.
Later, i inserted a old hdd of mine into the second slot, formatted it and reboot. Then when i tried to ssh in, i couldnt!
So far i tried
1) deleting fun_plug.bin... but couldnt delete the 'ffp' folder because it was write protected
2) Reinstalled the firmware and Placed a new set of fun_plug.bin and the compressed folder. Then rebooted again
3) Telnet, ssh not working
1) Installed a firmware with telnet in-built from http://dns323.kood.org/howto:telnet
2) Telent, ssh not working
What i'm gonna/am doing
1) Transfer files out of volume_1 to volume_2 (long long long wait......at 100mbps. wanted to do it via ssh
)
2) Reformat volume_1
3) repeat fun_plug installation steps.
Has anyone encountered this problem and found a way out?
thanks,
daren

OKAY... long story short is i let the 323 repartition the drive and did the reinstall for fun_plug
Deleting the 'ffp' folder did not work. 323 has to repartition the drive.
It seem that by removing the last 'sector' in the MBR(?) would nullify the use of fun_plug. Reminds me of some lesson i took a long time ago about processor chip pointing to the last sector in a memory map to find the first set of instructions during boot-up. I guess that is one clue as to how fun_plug does its magic ![]()
Anyway all is not in vain, during the process of transferring my hdd here and there between the desktop and nas, i discovered a jumper in my hdd limiting the drive to 1.5gps mode. Though i doubt it'll do much in a nas once i remove it, i'd rather sleep on that.
