Can I choose RAID1 without reformatting ?

Hi all,

I just purchased yesterday the DNS-323 NAS and I have 2 1TB HDs which where setup as RAID1 Ext3 (amybe ext2 but I don't recall for sure) on my previous NAS (crappy Raidsonic IB 4220). I entered the HDs in DNS and it recognizes them fine but in the RAID setup screen it will only allow me to choose the RAID setup together with formatting. It doesn't show any folders/files in HDs (it just recognizes their brand and capacity)

Firmware of DNS is 1.05 and I have not installed anything on it yet (no telnet, just enabled ftp server).

Is there a way to setup RAID1 in DNS without having to reformat the drives and being able to see what is inside them right now ?

The other (not easy) option is of course to read the drives in linux or WinXP with Ext2FS drivers (has worked before) and copy them in an external HD, reformat them and then copy the data back.

Also, if I setup RAID1 in DNS do I need to do something else to ensure integrity because I have read in the forum that there are occasional problems with the default RAID1 setup of the DNS which may cause errors in the future.

Thanks
