Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Slow performance in XP MCE & Videoplaying

For a couple of days now I have setup my DNS 323 without a problem. Firmware 1.06beta, 2 1TB disks setup as standalone, fun_plug 0.5 running without any problems and copied approx. 400GB overnight (at an average speed of 12MB/sec on my wired 1Gbit ethernet network). Windows sees the 2 HDs correctly and they are correctly mapped and managed in XP through Total Commander.

When I try to play a videfile either through VLC player or Media Player it is very slow (takes time to load, and when trying to skip forward takes 10 secs to skip!). Also, while I have added music/pic/video folders in XP MCE, when accessing Video folders over the NAS they are too slow (20 secs to enter the Video folder, 20secs to start playing any video file, let alone trying to move back/forward in a movie).

I have tried plain small mpgs, large 720p or 1080p mkv files, all produce the same result (it doesn't have to do with the video encoding or size since I get the same result in all video files). Also, loading pictures is slow (5-7secs to upload a 1MB JPG file for example)

I would have imagined its my net speed but since I copy from PC to the NAS at 12-15Mb/sec I would thats the expected speed in a 1Gbit network over SMB but I also noticed the following (which can be the problem) when copying PC > NAS I get 12-15MB/sec, when copying NAS>PC I get 0.5MB/sec !!!! Quite a difference in speed, any ideas ?
