The AU one unpacked to DNS323_Firmware_106b62 @7,864,710 bytes (AU - REV B link)
On the AU site, v1.06 is currently only listed for REV B of the DNS-323. For Rev A, the latest firmware is still v1.05 (AU - REV A link.  The US site doesn't have different downloads for Rev A / Rev B of the device.

The release notes from the version on the US site: dns323_firmware_106 @7,893,846 bytes are in mastervol's post above.

From the AU site Release notes of: DNS323_Firmware_106b62 @7,864,710 bytes (at the time of writing)

The version 1.06 released from D-Link USA yesterday is the version 1.06b65 from 12/03/2008:

Current Firmware Version :  1.06
Firmware Date :  12/03/2008

Both has a filesize from 7.893.846 Bytes.

For one and two weeks ago the guys from the D-Link USA Forum said that the version 1.06b65 is a beta version and itīs a risk to use that one. And now they said "Firmware 1.06 now available!!" and renamed the version 1.06b65 and release the same version under the name 1.06.

I have had the same DLNA error with my PS3.  But I got it working....make sure you go into the UPNaV settings on the DNS-323 and execute a refresh.  Also, what I have is the checkbox for just sharing off the root..and not some sub folder.  After the refresh completes...wait a few minutes and your PS3 should be able to see the DNS-323 just fine.

I use a linksys WRT610N and I have my PS3 and my Dlink hardwired to it.  Hopes this helps.

EDIT: Also.. I find it helps if you leave your PS3 turned on during the refresh...it seems if you power cycle the PS3 it doesn't pick up the DNS-323 right away and you may have to wait 5-10 minutes for your files to start showing up.

Refreshing done, the NAS is listen but when I attempt to access it I got always the same DLNA 2114 error.
My PS3 is in wifi mode with a fixed ip address 192.168.1.4 pointing the same NAS's gateway 192.168.1.1 witch is also acts as router for both.
On the 323 I shared a folder called MEDIA, later I'll try with the ROOT and if nothing happens I'll use the cable, stay tuned.
I'm considering to roll back to 1.04 firmware..........

I'm not related to D-Link in any way apart from owning their products; however I am a software developer.  You should be happy that this is how they did it.  The entire point of the Beta process is to have a small group test it before releasing and supporting it.  For the Beta process to have any value you have to set a date to stop the addition of new features and then fix bugs until no new ones are found after a period of time in limited (Beta) release.  They did their thing, released it as Beta, fixed bugs as they were found, and waited until it was stable to release it.  If they were making changes right up to the date of release you would then cry about the bugs they introduced and couldn't find in time.  Any piece of software is unsafe to use until it's gone through this sort of process; heck even software that has can destroy your data as some of us have found.

No, you are not! Same for me here. I have no solution up to now.

One question:
Are you using fun-plug? Maybe Firefly is active at the same time?

No I have unmodified original dlink firmware, nothing more, nothing less!
My question is: How did they check the firmware? It should be a very important feature.... (if you want call this "feature"....)
Any other with this problem??!?

Tried all the thing's I can think of, inbuilt uPnP and itunes are disabled, have cleared any spooled print jobs so can't see why it should stay "awake".

No - mine goes in to powersave just fine.  I'm running a minimal funplug (just enough to give me telnet access).

Perhaps in all your posts of released betas, you missed the release notes leading up to 1.06b65? Or did we change nothing between 1.05 and 1.06?

As bdam said above, we had a stop date that was set. No further features were implemented (obviously earlier than 12/03 since we had bug fixes to those features). Of course I said don't load b65 if you value your data. At the time it had not been through any lab testing to verify data integrity and functionality and was straight off of the software programmers desk. Once that beta was confirmed as passed did you want us to reproduce another file with a different date and name? Why risk a mistake that could halt release another 2weeks - month? If a code is confirmed it is NOT changed from that point on otherwise it must go through re-verification.

I tried as you suggestet to reset to factory defaults the NAS... nothing again! I wasted only other time.
The 323 UPnP AV server just doesn't work, at least on my configuration.

I'll be relaxed on next update (maybe) :-(

After firmware upgrade the "inotify_upnp" process eats ~98% processor time. It is normal?

Where did you get this "official firmware" from?  The one I downloaded from D-Link USA is in English.

Re: 1.06 is available now

That seems to be the same place mine came from.

Did you at some point download the Chinese beta?  Is it possible that you are selecting the wrong file when you flash?

You could also try running the easy search utility - the old one had a place to change the language, I don't know if the new one also does.

1 . No

2. I would have thought it best to do so to allow the inbuilt fancontrol to do it's stuff.

Re: 1.06 is available now

I've tried 1.06 with Xbox 360. It works but at the same time sucks big time. It takes ages to list my pictures or mp3s. I did a refresh and waited for it to complete but it did not help. It seems that the UPnP server does not cache file information and each time reads them from media files. I also noticed some stuttering during video playback. I don't have any of these problems with twonkey.

We are talking about the version 1.06b65 and the new USA version 1.06. Both are the same version - therefore both have the same bugs.

Why you didnīt  fix the email bug and after than release a new build version? At 12/11/2008 i wrote allredy this in your D-Link USA Forum:

Tilly wrote:

My E-MAIL Account ALERT SETTINGS which are working perfect with the version 1.05b28 are not working with the version 1.06b65.

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic … 9#msg17649

D-Link ignore these information and released with knowledge of this email bug the version 1.06 at 12/29/2008, what is exactly the version 1.06b65 from 12/03/2008. And now you and me an all of us can read the email problem postings from the DNS-323 owner.

Re: 1.06 is available now

Hi all.
I just upgraded the 1.06 firmware, and I want to confirm that UPS monitoring via USB working fine for me.
I have Belkin Home Series UPS 600 VA. So, monitoring is working, but switching off the DNS-323 not, because my UPS is going down while the battery level is below 50%. I think that is the UPS problem, no new firmware. Anyway I just wanted to tell that UPS monitoring is great thing within this small box.
Here are two screenshots of status in my DNS.

I have investigated with some tests and have discovered thath there's a bug or in the quantity or in the quality of files shared.
If I create a folder with only 3 of files (1 video - 1 picture - 1 music) it's all ok and the new folder is shared into PS3, but if I try only the folder where I share the music all stops to work and during the refresh the window closes at about 24% of work.
Now I must understand if it's caused by a particular file (maybe damaged one?) or by the elevate number of files (about 2500), stay tuned.
The bug in the Email alert (see the other discussion) is always present.

Happy new year everybody!

I watched Dark Knight last night through my DNS and it worked flawlessly.  Took 2 seconds to load up and start playing while i was doing a 40GB backup to the DNS even.

Stuttering does not happen with all video files. I could play some with no problem. However, some of them had really bad stuttering (there was no other network activity at the same time). The same files play well with twonkey.

What about caching media file information? With twonkey, when I go to folder on Xbox 360 I see the list of pictures (or music files) instantly but with UPnP server it takes a long time.

Well, so I discovered, on the long refresh task, the 323 just hangs and both left/right hard drive's led went orange, but the drives are ok!! The refresh window blocks and take a long jump from 60% to 100% and says it's finished...
It's there a log to watch on what file (I think it's always the same) this happens? Is there a way to force a checkdisk? There exists, maybe, a limit for the max number of files shared?

The email problem is now fixed, I just reset the 323 with the hardware button and later I reload a previously 1.05 firmware saved configuration. Now it works with an anonymous access, but I think there's always the 31 char max lenght limitation (too low for me) for the account access, I don't want to change anything because I fell if I do it later nothing will work again.
