standalone NFS broke with 1.03

i guess i thought that maybe it wouldn't.  ssh and nfs are the only things i really want on my stock DNS-323.  is there anyone out there (fonz?) that can update the standalone binaries somehow for the new kernel?

I haven't tried the new firmware yet, and I won't until D-Link releases updated source code. I'm afraid there's no easy way to compile programs for the new firmware without new toolchain.

PS: What exactly is happening? someguy reported that at least my telnet is working on 1.03 (http://dns323.kood.org/forum/t404-Networkstreaming.html), and raven seems to be running the nfs server on 1.03 as well.

Re: standalone NFS broke with 1.03

this could all be a mistake on my part.  possibly assumed the IP would stay static and when i successfully connected only via smb (which has an identical local dns map as it's samba server name), i thought is all broken.  i'll upgrade again and test.

thanks for the feedback.

actually the usb-storage.ko breaks:

insmod: error inserting '/mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug.d/usb-storage.ko': -1 Invalid module format

i use a thumb drive for all my additions so the main drives can spin down.  i suppose i can move them over though.

Unsurprisingly. Kernel modules work only with the kernel they were compiled for.

Re: standalone NFS broke with 1.03

Hi there,

somehow I'm a little bit confused. As fonz already said, I installed Firmware 1.03 and afterwards fonz' fun_plug including the NFS.
Yesterday, I had no problem with access from my Solaris Station, today it worked too. Then I rebooted the DNS-Box and wuuups... no more NFS.
Even after restarting the NFS-Server manual, nothing happened. Don't know why but I'm absolutely sure, that I restarted the box today too...

Did you check the unfsd _and_ portmap are running (ps)? The unfs server is a bit picky about the exports file, it won't start if an exported path does not exist. Did you change anything else? unfs is started with -d option, so there might be messages in /mnt/HD_a2/fun_plug.d/log/.
