Temperature differences between units

I've recently noticed that my older DNS-323 with 2 750G Samsung hard drives reports a temperature of about 104-deg F while the newer DNS-321 with a single Hitachi 1TB reports a temperature of about 114-deg F. No drives are being accessed across the network though they are spinning and the temperature is from the admin web page. Also, the fan on the DNS-321 kicks in much more often as a result.

Do the Hitachi drives and/or the DNS-321s typically run hotter?

Thanks.

Re: Temperature differences between units

What is the RPMs of the 750G ... and the 1T?

I would guess that is the difference in heat, typically 7200 rpm drives are hotter than 5400 rpm.
