I have a 323 running under a wireless router and housing all our media (pics, music, video, etc.). I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 and trying to find a way to replace the normal desktop Music/Video/Picture folders with links to the nas folders. the nas shows up in ubuntu under the network and I can mount the nas as needed, but i get errors when I try and build symbolic links to the folders themselves. Anyone know the trick?
btw, I tried dragging and dropping the relevant folders and while that created a shortcut of some kind that appears under Places, it does not function correctly as, for example, trying to import from those folders into songbird or other media players or picture management programs, does not work.
Thanks,
Mike

Try doing it with NFS. i.e. - setup NFS server on the DNS, mount the NFS share on your Ubuntu machine, then you can use links. I do this on my popcorn hour with no problem. The mount point is pretty deep in the filesystem tree, so I put links on the root to go to them. Works like a charm.
