G'Day,
1. I have A1 hardware and DLink Australia has 1.05 for that and 1.06 for Rev B. Is it OK to install 1.06 on Rev A hardware?
2. What version in Samba up to in 1.06?
TIA

I'm running the US 1.06 firmware on a US Rev A hardware - no problems - I could be wrong, but I believe the US & Australian 1.06 firmwares are not identical.
How do I determine the version of Samba

Assuming you can get to a shell on your 323 do the following:
root@NAS:~# smbd --version
Version 3.0.24
Are the various region firmware different?

Since you've installed the firmware, I'm guessing you already know the version of Samba.
As to the different versions in the different regions...
Not being D-Link, I'm reluctant to make any statement of differences between the firmwares for the different regions - like I've already said, I believe the Australian and US versions of 1.06 are different, in fact I've seen a post on a forum from an individual whom I know to have close ties to D-Link make that statement, although he was not able to define the differences.
I also know of at least one version that is in a different language and I have observed that not all countries release the new firmware versions at the same time - so that when in the US the latest version is 1.06, the latest version in, for example, the UK might be 1.05 - I don't know the reasons for the delays and it is possible in my opinion that a given firmware version could be modified to comply with specific local regulations before release - but - that's just my $0.02
Based on anecdotal evidence in this forum - any/all firmware versions released to date run on both Rev A & Rev B hardware regardless of the market region - but who knows when that could change. D-Link says they won't provide support for firmware not released for their market - which I believe to be nothing more than a standard tech support disclaimer - so that's where we stand.
