Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Im using the latest funplug version of squeezecenter, downloaded at http://www.inreto.de/dns323/squeezecent … lug/7.3.1/
I then need to install the unrar-3.7.8-1.gz, but now i found out that the squeezecenter-funplug dosent have the funpkg-0.5-3.tgz installed, so im unable to install the unrar package.
How to I install the funpkg-0.5-3.tgz so i can use the command "funpkg"

The Squeezecenter-Funplug is a stripped down version of ffp, including only the Squeezecenter software (plus required infrastructure, such as busybox, mysql and perl). Note that you cannot mix it with the standard ffp. E.g., the funpkg utility is not included

What about the new squeezecenter-7.3.1-1 found in extra packages. Isn't that supposed to run in normal ffp 0.5 context?
Before Xmas I managed to get 7.2 installed and running and then 2 weeks ago I had a disk crash.
I now struggle to get everything back to original state - except that I though I could just as well use version 7.3
Unfortunately I don't get a listener at port 9000 while starting it.
Only indication of error is if I try:
./slimserver.pl --user=squeezecenter
This gives me a Segmentation fault
Shouldn't it just work?
What about configuration?

If you start it with user squeezecenter, you need to adjust file permissions yourself. My squeezecenter package runs as user nobody, and you start it with
sh /ffp/start/slimserver.sh start
The squeezecenter software is a little fragile, and starting it as root with the --user=... option doesn't work very well. You might have broken some important permissions already.
I suggest you remove the package, remove /ffp/etc/squeezecenter and /ffp/lib/squeezecenter. Then reinstall the packages and start it using the start script.

After writing my last post I tryed to install all packages. This solved the segmentation fault, but still it didn't work.
Probably due to the reasons you wrote, Fonz.
I've just tryed now to clean up everyhing from squeezecenter, i.e. /ffp/etc/squeezecenter, /ffp/lib/squeezecenter and infact all mysql database stuff, i.e everything in /ffp/var/mysql
After having re-installed squeezecenter-3* I have
Installed mysql by running
mysql_install_db
/ffp/start/mysql.sh start
mysql_secure_installation - setting no root password
/ffp/start/slimserver.sh start
Apparantly it didn't work - until a reboot. Hurray.
As usual piece of cake when you know what to do.
Still I wonder what package I was originally missing ?
