DNS 323 wait mode

Hello,

I would like to know if this is normal to get the dns 323 still running when not using it.

In the firmware, I put 5min unuse wait before it automatically switches off... to the wait mode.

Inquiry: Is it normal to get the light on?, the air conditionning running?

thankd in advance for your help. I would like to leave it awake always but not easy when you think about energy use??!!

best regards

Re: DNS 323 wait mode

The 5-minute interval is for the DNS-323 to spin down the hard drives, not for it to shut itself off. Otherwise, it wouldn't be there next time you need to access it.

Yes, you will have the lights (although the main power button light should be dimmed) on even when it's in sleep mode. By "air conditioning", do you mean the fan? If so, yes, the fan will continue to run as well, unless you upgrade to the latest 1.06 firmware, which has a different fan control setup where it shuts off the fan if the temperature is low enough.

With the DNS-323 in sleep mode, the power draw should be around 6-9W, which in my neighborhood translates to US$6-9 per year. Shouldn't be a big deal.
