Hi all,
I already posted to custom firmware but actually I think this forum is more adapted so I repost. Sorry for duplicate.
My setup :
* PC with iTunes with music located on the DNS-323 and folder monted as local drive to add and manage music
* Airport express to listen music from my PC to the sound system
* iPhone with remote software to control itunes on my PC and play the song I want to airport express
This is working great but I'm wondering if there is a way to let the PC shutdown and use DNS-323 as the server.
So it needs to :
1/ Work directly with airport express without PV on
2/ Be able to be controlled from my iPhone
Any thoughts ?

I tried this as well and had no luck. I think there are two logical functions within iTunes - the player and the server. The server shares out the library. That's it. The player part handles the streaming to airport express and remote control functions. The DNS-323 only has the server part - not the player part.
Make sense?

yes it does. Maybe a third party software will appear in the future on our DNS-323 ... who knows

Airport Express is not a great Streaming Client. There are plenty of UPNP Radios around. Priced from 80 Eur to over 1000 Eur. Get one and be happy. I have a Logitech Squeezebox Boom and it's great. Squeezecenter is also avaible as a fonz package for the DNS-323.
