I have (had...) and Revision 1A DNS-232 running version 1.05 firmware which I've just upgraded to 1.06
All was well, device restarted, could access the Admin interface etc. Then after about 10 mins both HD lights on the fromt went red, and I could no longer access the drive from my PC. So, I restarted the device..., same again after about 10 mins.
Next I decided to revert back to 1.05, admin interface said upgrade was successful.
The device now seams to boot up, and flash disk/network lights for 5-6 mins, then stop - no web interface, no access, no response to a ping.
WTF now....?

I also upgraded from 1.05 to 1.06...
but the power management is not working...
and drives were on constantly and spinning..
and the case was warm to touch.
so, I downgraded from 1.06 to 1.05
After reboot, the lights did flash for about 5-10 mins and then stopped.
I couldn't access the NAS.
Then I've discovered that it was lost all the settings...
ie static ip, passwords, etc..
The NAS was actually working.. but back to default settings..

Spot on, this is exactly what happened, and now all is well with my settings restored.
IMHO steer clear of 1.06 !

I have also upgraded with almost same result, was curious to se if I could get my raid1 setup to work again since it said it was degraded and only on disk was running. It worked fine in the start and it started to build u the second disk. When I came back from work several hours later on the working disk light was pink and I could not access the unit anymore. After cold start w power off I could access the admin page but not the disks.
I believe will have to downgrade FW to get it to work again.
Any better suggestions?

Same thing happened to me. I upgraded to 1.06 but downgraded to 1.05 and lost everything. Don't bother calling tech support--complete waste of time.
