DNS 323 start to rapidly for my HDD

Hello,
Yesterday I've bought a DNS-323 and two hard drives :
* An Hitachi 640GB
* An Samsung 640Go

I've configure its to use RAID 1.

My problem is, when I shutdown my DNS-323 and start it, the OS is completely start more rapidly than my Hitachi. So DNS-323 says that my hard drive is dead. If I reboot the DNS-323, the hard drive is show by the DNS-323 but I must rebuild RAID on the Hitachi to use it - and.

I want to put a sleep 10 in my rc.sh but this file is automatically rewrite at each boot...

Have you got a solution for that ?

Thanks.

Guillaume.

P.S. Sorry for my english ... I have some difficulties to write in this language.

Re: DNS 323 start to rapidly for my HDD

Check your Hitachi drives - they may have a jumper that delays the "spinup" to reduce the load on the power supply - I have a couple of Maxtors that do that and the jumper fixes it.

Google "stagger spin" or "delay spin" and see if you find anything applicable to your particular disk.

The Deskstar E7K500 hard drive is optimized for use in enterprise environments with capabilities such as Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS), which maintains the hard drive's performance in high rotational vibration environments where multiple drives reside in a single enclosure. The drive has the ability to stagger or delay spin-up, enabling the host to individually spin up drives in multi-drive configurations. This reduces the power draw of a booting system and allows system designers to reduce the size of the power supply and minimize the total cost of ownership for end users. To maintain drive reliability, the Deskstar E7K500 has an optional low-power mode to reduce system heat / cooling requirements, as well as a load / unload ramp mechanism to protect user data when power is removed.

they aren't any jumper but I can change the powersave consumption with an application .... but I haven't any computer with serial ATA port, just an USB rack and it seems to be impossible to use this application with an USB rack.
