Unfortunately no one can be told what fun_plug is - you have to see it for yourself.

Since the recommended memory requirements for transmission is 64MB, how about we use wine + utorrent?
Has anyone tried to install wine?

Um.....I can see a couple of things wrong with what you have proposed.
1. How are you going to attach a monitor to the DNS-323, I'm not a Wine expert but I dare say there is no CLI interface for it nor a web based client - but I could be wrong
2. I dare say wine and uTorrent (and possibly just Wine) would use far more RAM than transmission.
Why solve something that is already sorted, transmission runs on the DNS323, use that, alternatively, for even less resource, use rTorrent.

That is also a minor detail that both WINE and utorrent only available for x86 CPUs.
If you want utorrent's speed, give rtorrent a try. you can control it through ssh or ntorrent from you pc/mac.

After I restarted my unit (after a couple of months running all the time), transmission memory usage went down from 55MB to 6MB (as reported from the "top" command).. I can live with 6MB.. 55MB, on the other side, was bugging me as hell.

You can probably restart transmission instead of restart your unit to keep the precious uptime.
