Canon LBP5000 to work with USB print server?

Is there any chance to get Canon LBP5000 to work with the USB print server? Apparently this printer needs the Canon CAPT print server to function. Any possibility to install this to DNS-323 or some other workaround?

I can find & add the printer without problem over the network but no printing whatsoever is possible. I always get this error:

The following errors may have occurred.
- The server is down.
- The Firewall settings of the client does not allow communications with the server.

Re: Canon LBP5000 to work with USB print server?

Search the forum - there is a thread where I have posted step by step instructions on setting up the print server by creating a local port - I'm inclined to say, if that doesn't work, you have a compatability issue.

Re: Canon LBP5000 to work with USB print server?

Thanks but I've already tried all the hints & tips from the forum and none of them helped. I can print succesfully with Epson C70 but not with Canon LBP5000.

I believe that the issue is with CAPT (Canon Advanced Printing Technology), e.g. here the same problem was mentioned: http://wl500g.info/archive/index.php/t-166.html

So only workaround I can think of would be somehow to install the CAPT drivers directly to DNS-323. Would this even be possible?
