I have power management enabled on my dns323, and I have it set to power off the hard disks after 5 minutes of inactivity.
When I am connected to the wireless network and mount the dns323 in Linux, the hard disks power up. If I start transferring files to/from the dns323, and am not actively doing something else on the dns323, it will power down after 5 minutes, even though I have file transfers going. This obviously stops the transfer dead, and I can't do anything to power the dns323 disks back up and resume the transfer. However, if I am doing something else, such as browsing through the directories, while transferring the files, the disks stay powered on.
In Windows XP, I can map the dns323 and transfer files without the dns323 disks powering down.
If I connect to the wired network and mount the dns323 in Linux, this issue does not happen. I can transfer files without actively doing something else, and the disks will not power down.
I know the easy fix for this is to turn the power management off, but I can't accept that as a solution. Anyone know what the cause of this is, or how to fix it?
