Putting my files back to newly formatted RAID-1 drives

Hi, I've backed up my data and reformatted both my RAID-1 drives. Now I have to put all my data back to it. To save time, I don't want to transfer the files by network. If I transfer the data by installing one hard drive into a PC with Ext2 driver, will my RAID be OK after thatWill it synconise the files to the second drive after I put it in the NAS? Should I copy the data to the both drives manually instead? I think RAID should syncronise the files last changed, but who knows... Any idias?
