root group for users

Hi,

I always hate trying to move some files around on a samba share - only to find that i dont have permissions.

For example, files downloaded by transmission are owned by nobody - only nobody and root can move them.

Is there a way to add myself (a user on the NAS), to act as root?

Is this too dangerous to do?

Re: root group for users

Which group do these files belong to?

There are ways to add a user to the root group but I wouldn't advise to do that, not for convenience reasons at least.
It is dangerous because this "normal" user will get permissions that he shouldn't have and doesn't need normally. For example he can read configuration files which might contain passwords and other info which might compromise the security of your system.
